Bitcoin Pizza Day Giveaway by TRASTRA

Bitcoin pizza day

If in 2021 you still have doubts whether or not crypto has a practical use, ask Laszlo Hanyecz - a programmer who has become well known in crypto circles after trading 10,000 bitcoins for two Papa John's pizzas on May 22, 2010. Eleven years later, the "Bitcoin Pizza Day" is THE reminder of the distance between Bitcoin, the punchline of a joke and Bitcoin, the digital economy's tour de force

To commemorate the first time Bitcoin was ever spent on a real-world good, TRASTRA is throwing a BTC giveaway!

Prizes:

70 EUR per winner — this should be enough for two pizzas, just like back in 2010. The total number of winners: 6 (2 per social media channel)
  • Free TRASTRA card with multi-currency wallet and a personal IBAN account to receive EUR. Use your TRASTRA crypto debit card to cash out at any ATM in the world that accepts Visa. All without the need to stop at the bank – ever!

Here’s how to participate:

Follow TRASTRA on any of our social media:

Tag 2 crypto friends with whom you don’t mind sharing a pizza

Done! Two lucky winners will be randomly selected on May 31

So you see, using a personal computer to help maintain the Bitcoin network can be both boom and bust. But it sure is as fun today as it was back in 2010 when Bitcoin was worth less than a penny. Laszlo Hanyecz couldn’t do much with his mining rewards back then, so he had a cool idea to spend open-source internet money for a real-world good. Using an online chat forum, Hanyecz asked if anyone would be willing to buy him pizza in exchange for 10,000 Bitcoin. He found a taker – and got two pizzas out of the deal.

Even with the ongoing slump, based on the current value of Bitcoin, Hanyecz would have paid almost half of a billion for those pizzas. That Bitcoin-for-pizza exchange is believed to be the first real-world transaction involving cryptocurrency. Since then, Hanyecz has become something of an internet celebrity. Each May 22, crypto enthusiasts worldwide celebrate “Bitcoin Pizza Day” in honour of his transaction – the first attempt to “harness greed with Bitcoin”, as the man himself puts it.
